2017 marks the 100th Anniversary
for the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg!!
In honour of that milestone and based on the long standing foundation of community service, the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg is working on a project to donate a minimum of 100 items every month to benefit various organizations in Winnipeg.
Bruce Berven from the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg handing underwear to Emita of the Canadian Muslim Women's Institute. The Club coordinated donations of over 100 underwear needed by refugees crossing the US border just south of Winnipeg, and is part of our continuing celebration of our 100th birthday.
In January, we chose to support the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ by donating 118 pairs of socks to benefit the Community Homeless Assistance Team (CHAT). Kiwanian, Bruce Berven, (centre) presented the socks to the CHAT Team on Friday, January 27, 2017.
Launched in 2013, CHAT is dedicated to performing comprehensive outreach to individuals at-risk of, or experiencing homelessness downtown. CHAT currently consists of 8 people who walk the streets of downtown Winnipeg talking to and assisting the homeless. The socks will be handed out to those who need them.
